Hello, could someone please turn up the levity?
Life is getting a bit heavy
I hope I can use my ability to communicate, without being too precious or serious. It's good to have some levity, even as you're facing really dark times,to mix it up a bit. - Jay Roach
Have you noticed, we're all inclined to start endeavors? Serious and responsible and legacy building endeavors. Is it natural or is it conditioning? I don’t know, but I find myself pushing against the idea. I want more levity in my life. Do you?
Progress, productivity, accomplishment, obligation, and expectation are all very weighty. And, we seem to wear these weights day and night.
I mean this in the nicest way Stop improving, Lighten up, Go and get some levity For an hour everyday
This post isn’t about me convincing you to do something you love. We love the hard things we do. This is about learning to love when we get to do easy things. So, how do you find something fun and light?
Look for it, but be sure to stay away from anything that can be measured, that will stoke competitiveness, or tempt us to improve. When we give way to these things, the levity is gone.
There are some tasks that are simple, affordable, accessible,non-measurable, and free of competition that you can use to amp up your levity…
Chores!
Chores, ugh! What? Just listen.
Chores are defined as routine tasks, especially a household one. To me, they seem to exist outside of the dopamine fueled success universe, because we can goof off and still get them done.So do that some time.
Re-frame: Chores are not things you have to do, Chores are moments when you’re free
If you really hate chores, but you're going to do them anyway. Then just do them while listening to music and revel in the fact that you are, at this moment, free of expectations.
There are other ways to increase levity, of course. I like chores because they are already established. They are built-in excuses to be lighthearted with the mundane.

Please come over any time! I have lots of freedom waiting around...my desk needs freedom, and my floors always do. I will try to remember to sing "Whistle while you work" while I practice my own freedom of the expectation that I need to do my chores perfectly or on time! Nice perspective. 😍
