Snug
Entry 4
Snug
Nothing happened. The human continued its business. I’m sure that if it had seen me move, or heard me quake it would have reacted, but it was still. A short time later I heard the vibrations of the word, “Ahh”, and with that I was placed somewhere silent, dark, and cold.
You are probably wondering how I knew this was a dark place. Well I know it was dark because it was silent, and I knew it was silent because I felt no vibrations. I know, I know, you’re probably thinking, ‘light emits no sound’. Would you believe me if I told you that a photon has a voice like an angel?
An empty dark room with a sliver of sunshine sounds like a music hall with a 200 person choral arrangement (I’ve been to one of those). Humans love sunlight, but you haven’t lived until you’ve felt the warmth of the sun accompanied by the shimmering soundwaves produced by a quantum assembly in song. How I then wished for a single photonic friend.
I don’t know how long I sat in that silent, still place, but I remember the rumble of my reunion with the world of light. I shivered at the abrupt change in my environment, even though I was pleased with this new development. Then, a warm hand reached down and plucked me from the abyss, all the while showering me with kind words from a warm voice.
Unbeknownst to me, I’d just met my best friend.

'shimmering sound waves produced by a quantum assembly' ...this phrase sticks......
Every line ends with you wanting to read on. Such a skill. Reminds me of If on a winter’s night a traveler…
